Guernsey: Castel

Castel Parish is the largest of Guernsey’s ten parishes. It has a number of its bays; some are ideal for windsurfing, some for fishing and others for sun-bathing. Recently, a medieval settlement was discovered at Albecq. Archaeologists uncovered the remnants of buildings and they also found a bag of money and a dagger in a nearby drain. It is believed that these items were hidden there during the 13th century. This site is, in part, open to visitors to the areas. Castel is also home to the King George V Playing Field; one of the several which King George V was responsible for creating throughout the British Isles.
