Description:

The Revere Hotel began life as a 17th century coaching inn and maintains its historic character. Situated right in the centre of town, near the sea front, it’s in an ideal location to explore St Helier, Jersey’s capital. Just round the corner are the boutique shops, cafes, bars and restaurants of St Helier along with museums and other sights, very nearby are the Jersey Museum, the Maritime Museum and Elizabeth Castle as well as the Georgian House museum at 16 New Street, beautifully restored to give an insight into Regency life on the island. Or why not stroll down to the beach at St Aubin’s Bay, in fact you can walk right along the sea front to the pretty harbour village of St Aubin in just over an hour.

The Revere Hotel has two excellent and locally popular restaurants. The Candlelight Restaurant offers an array of stunning dishes, from speciality flambees to whole carved Sea Bass at your table. Doran’s Courtyard Bistro features authentic modern inspired dishes. And they are justly proud of their famous potted bread, a different flavour each day.

St Helier is a great location from which to discover the rest of Jersey too. Travel up the east of the island to the picturesque bays at Gorey and Rozel, or inland to the famous Jersey Zoo or to La Hougue Bie, one of the ten oldest buildings in the world. There’s also the Jersey War Tunnels and, to the west, the beautiful beaches at St Brelade’s and Beauport as well as Corbiere Lighthouse. The north is home to some wonderful rugged coastline, Plemont and Greve De Lecq are particularly lovely.

Recommended in Jersey during May, June, July & August:

The beach! The Revere is a short walk from the lovely bay of St Aubin but it’s worth making the short trip to the beautiful sandy beach of St Brelade’s Bay, voted in the top three best UK beaches in 2019 by TripAdvisor.

La Hougue Bie, discover Jersey’s Neolithic history by visiting one on the 10 oldest buildings in the world. Adult entry is £9.90 but we recommend getting a Heritage Pass for unlimited entry to many other Jersey Heritage sites including Jersey Museum, Maritime Museum and Elizabeth Castle.

Jersey National Park and St Ouen’s Bay. Head to Jersey’s west coast for some incredible scenery and wonderful country and coastal walks, the sand dunes of Les Blanches Banques are one of many highlights, not too far from the iconic Corbiere Lighthouse. Or there’s crazy golf if you’re in a different kind of mood.

Jersey Zoo, set aside plenty of time as there is lots to see. An animal haven set in a 32-acre park with valleys, woodland and some of the world’s rarest animals, Jersey Zoo began as the first ever conservation-themed zoo and remains the natural place to discover some of the world’s most incredible creatures.

Jersey is a fantastic place to visit for food lovers, with many great cafes and bars and high quality local produce, the hotel’s own Candlelight Restaurant and Doran’s Courtyard Bistro are both highly recommended. The Channel islands have even been highlighted as the number one gastronomic hotspot in the British Isles in the 2020 Good Food Guide.

Events:

Liberation Day, 09 May. The Channel Islands were the only part of the British Isles to be occupied by German forces in WW2. The five-year occupation came to an end on 9 May 1945 – Liberation Day, an event still celebrated in Jersey with an annual Bank Holiday and 2020 sees the 75th anniversary of the Liberation in Jersey.

13th Parish Festival of Film & Music – 25-31 May
#LoveNature Festival – 15-19 May, The National Trust for Jersey‘s annual environment festival

Jersey International Motoring Festival – 04-07 June, the largest annual motoring event in the Channel Islands, a must for anyone interested in classic & vintage cars and motorcycles.

Battle of Flowers, Thursday 13 August. Enjoy the spectacle of flower festooned floats, musicians, dancers and entertainers providing a tremendous atmosphere in the Grand Day Parade. First staged in 1902 in celebration of a Royal Coronation, The Jersey Battle of Flowers has grown over the past century to become one of the largest floral carnivals in Europe, and is without doubt, a major highlight in Jersey’s calendar of festivals and events. Followed on the Friday by the Moonlight Parade.
