La Collinette is a family run hotel, with lovely gardens, a heated swimming pool and great facilities for kids
A family run hotel for almost 60 years, La Collinette is one of the friendliest places to stay in Guernsey. Originally a 19th Century country house, it was commandeered by occupying German forces during the Second World War and many reminders of that period remain around the building, including a complex of bunkers you can visit during your stay. La Collinette is in a great location, right next to the picturesque Candie Gardens, a nice route to stroll through down to the town centre, the charming St Peter Port, with its cobbled streets, restaurants, shops and museums.
The hotel’s Garden Terrace is a real sun trap and a wonderful spot to enjoy a drink or a bite to eat or simply bask in the glorious Guernsey sunshine. The gardens are lovely, and of course there is the large heated outdoor pool, with a smaller pool for little ones nearby. The bar and restaurant have recently been renovated, both are popular with guests and locals alike and a stylish setting in which to enjoy a meal or a drink. Their cocktail list comes highly recommended.
La Collinette is an excellent base to explore the island of Guernsey, from beautiful beaches, cliffside walks and country rambles, to historic buildings and museums like the German Occupation Museum, Guernsey Folk and Costume Museum, Castle Cornet or Hauteville House – the historic home of Victor Hugo.
