Ever wondered if snow ever visits the Channel Islands?
It’s a rare guest, but when it does, the islands turn into a magical winter wonderland!
2013 was the last time the islands saw a major fall of snow. In the unlikely month of March that year, heavy snow blanketed the islands on the 10th and the 11th, creating some gorgeously wintry scenes. In Jersey, more than 14 cm of snow was recorded, breaking records that had stood since 1962 with drifts that would reach up to eight feet in some places.
Since then, the islands have seen snow in January 2018, and again in January 2024 when they woke up to a pretty dusting which had fallen overnight.
Who knows, the next Channel Islands snowfall could be just around the corner. Maybe 2025 will have a white Christmas after all…..!
After a wonderful and eventful year throughout the islands, thank you for all your support this year. Have a very Happy Christmas from all of us at Channel Escapes, and every good wish for 2026!
*UPDATE 25 December 2025
After our Christmas post this year, the islands saw their official first White Christmas since 1970!
Also, here are some gorgeous pictures of Christmases (snowy and not so snowy) here:
