Description

Peninsula Hotel, Guernsey

The Peninsula Hotel in Guernsey sits on a picturesque headland with a wonderful view over Grand Harve Bay from the front and a lovely sheltered beach from the rear. Surrounded by five acres of gardens, it takes its name from its location on a tranquil grassy peninsula in the quiet parish of the Vale. There’s a heated outdoor pool, pitch and putt, volleyball and petanque, plus a children’s playground.

The Peninsula Restaurant’s menu is based on selected fresh local produce with a menu which is changed daily throughout the season and weekly in the winter. There’s also the brand new Bar Du Nord which does a great pizza and an excellent Sunday lunch.

The Peninusla is an ideal base to explore the island of Guernsey, from beautiful beaches, cliffside walks and country rambles, to historic buildings and museums like the German Occupation Museum, Guernsey Folk and Costume Museum, Castle Cornet or Hauteville House – the historic home of Victor Hugo.

Best Western Royal Hotel, Jersey

The Best Western Royal Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in Jersey, retaining its historic exterior while being recently refurbished and modernised inside. Its location in St Helier, Jersey’s capital, is ideal for the boutique shops, cafes, bars and restaurants of the town, along with museums and other sights. Very nearby are the Jersey Museum, the Maritime Museum and Elizabeth Castle as well as the Georgian House museum at 16 New Street, beautifully restored to give an insight into Regency life on the island. Also within walking distance is the lovely beach and seafront of St Aubin’s Bay, which stretches all the way to the pretty harbour village of St Aubin.

27 David Place, the hotel’s newly refurbished contemporary restaurant, holds an AA Rosette and offers both table d’hôte and a ‘Small Plates’ tapas style selection. It serves an interesting menu of high quality local produce and beautifully presented dishes.
Bar 27 offers appealing bar meals and is a welcoming place for guests to meet and relax. A secure dedicated on-site free car park offers 15 spaces for hotel guests.

St Helier is a great location from which to discover the rest of Jersey too. Travel up the east of the island to the picturesque bays at Gorey and Rozel, or inland to the famous Jersey Zoo or to La Hougue Bie, one of the ten oldest buildings in the world. There’s also the Jersey War Tunnels and, to the west, the beautiful beaches at St Brelade’s and Beauport as well as Corbière Lighthouse. The north is home to some wonderful rugged coastline, Plemont and Greve De Lecq are particularly lovely.
