Description
The Hideaway is a charming boutique property on the island of Sark, recently refurbished, offering both bed & breakfast and self-catering options. It’s located on the outskirts of The Village, the tiny settlement that serves as Sark’s main town, and it’s a short walk to the Avenue, where you’ll find the island’s shops, cafes and pubs. The Hideaway has a cosy lounge area with an open fire and TV. Guests also have access to a selection of family games, playing cards and books, and the garden area is a lovely spot to sit and relax.
Sark is famously one of the few places in the world where cars are not allowed, and only horse-drawn vehicles, tractors and bicycles are permitted. Its small size, unspoiled landscape, winding country lanes and absence of traffic make it the ideal place to wander or cycle at your leisure, with plenty of cycle hire options, and our breaks usually include a pony & trap sightseeing tour. La Seigneurie Gardens are also well worth a visit, and recently opened is the non-profit Sark Art Gallery and Museum. When it comes to food and drink Sark offers a remarkable array of high quality local produce, with plenty of places to sample it and Sark Distillery recently won a gold medal for their seaweed gin. In 2011, DarkSky International officially designated Sark as Europe’s first International Dark Sky Community, and the world’s first Dark Sky Island, thanks to its offshore location and low use of artificial light and electricity. The night sky is as much a part of Sark’s identity as the land itself, locals often use the stars to navigate by, and the island offers unparalleled views of the Milky Way and other celestial sights.
A stay at the Hideaway can be added to any Guernsey break to include the idyllic Sark as part of your holiday. We offer return ferry travel from Guernsey, overnight accommodation in a beautifully appointed double/twin room with toiletries, robe & slippers, with full breakfast included in the morning and pony & trap sightseeing tour on one afternoon.
Alternatively, we can build one of our bespoke Explore the Channel Islands breaks to incorporate a visit to each of the main islands, including all travel details and extras, just give our friendly team a call on 0203 955 5050.
