Description

Voted Best Hotel in the Channel Islands by Trip Advisor, and one of the top ten hotels in the UK, Hotel La Place is centred around a lovely seventeenth century country house in one of the most beautiful and peaceful areas of Jersey, located among Jersey’s Green Lanes, an award winning network of tranquil country routes with a maximum speed limit of just 15mph to encourage walking, cycling and horse riding. The hotel is just a short walk from the pretty harbour village of St Aubin and the wonderful sandy beach of St Brelade’s is very nearby. A short distance away is the Jersey Lavender Farm, and a little further west is the iconic Corbiere Lighthouse.

La Place Restaurant is a recently refurbished award winning restaurant which serves a wide choice of food from simple, light dishes to modern Jersey inspired dishes using locally sourced, quality produce. La Place Bar provides a calm and relaxing atmosphere right next to the swimming pool, and the Lounge Bar occupies the former farmhouse kitchen of the house, ideal at any time of the day for reading the morning papers, for afternoon tea, pre-dinner cocktails or after dinner coffee.

The island’s capital, St Helier, is just a ten minute drive away, or you could even walk there along the sea front of St Aubin’s Bay, it would take about an hour and a half but there are plenty of places to stop for refreshments along the way, alternatively it makes for a leisurely cycle or an enjoyable trip on the Petit Train. St Helier is home to boutique shops, cafes, bars and restaurants along with museums and other sights, such as the Jersey Museum, the Maritime Museum and Elizabeth Castle. Beyond St Helier, up the east coast of the island are the picturesque bays at Gorey and Rozel. Or travel inland to the famous Jersey Zoo, to La Hougue Bie, one of the ten oldest buildings in the world or to the Jersey War Tunnels. For a small island there’s an incredible amount of variety, head in the other direction up to the north west of the island where there is some wonderful rugged coastline, Plemont and Greve De Lecq are particularly lovely.
