L’Horizon sits along the boardwalk of St Brelade’s bay with a wonderful decked terrace stretching right along the front of the hotel, where there’s plenty of space for al fresco drinking, dining or just sitting gazing at the sea. Recently refurbished, the hotel is calm and elegant, full of space and light with lovely views from each of the indoor public rooms. There are some wonderful coastal walks and local sights to explore, or you could just enjoy afternoon tea on the terrace and take in the stunning views over the bay. The hotel is just a short walk from the lovely bay at Le Portelet as well as the pretty harbour village of St Aubin. A short distance away is the Jersey Lavender Farm, also nearby to the west is Corbière Lighthouse, and both are stops along the peaceful Railway Walk.
There are a wide range of dining experiences available at L’Horizon, The Grill is renowned for its locally caught seafood or try the Fusion menu with its distinctive mix of modern British cuisine with subtle Asian influences. Afternoon tea on the terrace is highly recommended, as is their traditional Sunday lunch. The island’s capital, St Helier, is just over 20 minutes away, it’s home to boutique shops, cafes, bars and restaurants along with museums and other sights, such as the Jersey Museum, the Maritime Museum and Elizabeth Castle. Beyond St Helier, up the east of the island are the picturesque bays at Gorey and Rozel. Or travel inland to the famous Jersey Zoo, to La Hougue Bie, one of the ten oldest buildings in the world, to the Jersey War Tunnels or to St Lawrence Valley, maintained by National Trust, Jersey and featuring some truly idyllic country walks. Alternatively, head up to the north west of the island where there is some wonderful rugged coastline, Plemont and Greve De Lecq are particularly lovely.
