The Westhill Country Hotel is friendly, family run hotel, situated in five acres of beautifully landscaped gardens on the outskirts of St Helier, Jersey’s capital. It’s a 5 minute drive into town, or the hotel operates a complimentary morning shuttle bus service and it’s on the no. 19 bus route. Once there, St Helier is compact and walkable but there’s plenty to see and do, from boutique shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, to museums and other sights, such as the Jersey Museum, the Maritime Museum and Elizabeth Castle. Also nearby is the Bay of St Aubin where you can walk along the sea front or the extensive beach, which stretches from St Helier to the pretty harbour village of St Aubin, the front is perfect for a leisurely cycle, you can hire a bike from the hotel, or an enjoyable trip on the Petit Train. Not far inland from the bay is St Lawrence Valley, maintained by National Trust, Jersey and featuring some truly idyllic country walks, as well as both Le Moulin de Quétivel watermill and the famous Jersey War Tunnels.
The hotel boasts two heated outdoor pools, as well as two hot tub spas, plus those lovely southwest facing gardens. They host a weekly weekend barbecue during the summer and there are two bars, including a pool bar so you can relax with a refreshing drink in the Jersey sunshine. The restaurant serves breakfast and dinner, with a bar menu available through the day, it’s very popular so you might want to make your dinner reservation in advance. During the high season there’s often live entertainment on offer and throughout the year the atmosphere is relaxed and informal, with a level of customer service which has earned the hotel a reputation as one of the most welcoming on the island.
The Westhill Country Hotel is also a great base from which to discover the rest of Jersey too, and if you’re doing that by car they have free parking. Travel up the east of the island to the picturesque bays at Gorey and Rozel, or inland to the famous Jersey Zoo or to La Hougue Bie, one of the ten oldest buildings in the world. To the west are the beautiful beaches at St Brelade’s and Beauport as well as Corbière Lighthouse, and much of the coastal Jersey National Park. The north is home to some wonderful rugged coastline, Plemont and Greve De Lecq are particularly lovely.
